The Anambra State Police Command says it is leveraging a viral video capturing the criminal operation of three armed men who abducted a victim in Awka on the morning of 27th June 2025, to aid its ongoing investigation and rescue operations.
The armed hoodlums, seen in a stainless-coloured Toyota Highlander SUV with no number plate, reportedly shot indiscriminately before abducting an unsuspecting member of the public in broad daylight.
Commending the courage of the individual who recorded and shared the video, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, MNIPS, PhD, described the act as a powerful example of public participation in crime-fighting and community safety.
“This brave action is already contributing meaningfully to our rescue efforts. It demonstrates how impactful community involvement can be in supporting law enforcement,” CP Orutugu said.
He assured that the Command is thoroughly analysing the footage to gather evidence that could lead to the identification, tracking, and apprehension of the perpetrators. He further reiterated the commitment of the Command to ensure the victim is rescued and justice served.
The Command has urged members of the public with useful information about the incident or suspects to come forward and assist ongoing investigations.
