The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Ikioye Orutugu, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to accountability and improved public engagement, pledging closer collaboration with the Public Complaints Commission (PCC).
Orutugu made the pledge on July 31, 2025, when he hosted senior PCC officials at the police headquarters in Awka. He said effective synergy between law enforcement and oversight bodies such as the PCC was vital for building public trust and enhancing service delivery.
He assured that under his leadership, the Anambra State Police Command would remain open to public scrutiny while upholding professionalism in its dealings with citizens.
The PCC delegation, led by Commissioner Emmanuel Muoka, expressed readiness to work closely with the police in addressing public complaints promptly and fairly. Muoka emphasised the commission’s role as a voice for the voiceless and its commitment to ensuring justice is both done and seen to be done.
The visit was part of efforts to deepen institutional collaboration, strengthen transparency, and protect citizens’ rights through effective redress mechanisms.
Orutugu reiterated his commitment to building inclusive and responsive policing structures that promote trust, justice, and safety for all residents of Anambra State.
