The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of two children in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, and successfully reunited the rescued victims with their parents.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were made on Wednesday, June 12, 2025, following a swift response by operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters.
The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Onyedika Daniel and 25-year-old Nkechi Onuwa, were apprehended at Okpuno-Oba in Idemili South LGA after the mother of the victims raised an alarm. One of her children had returned home and reported that two of his siblings were taken away by an unknown individual while they were heading to her shop along Nwafor Junction in Eziora, Ozubulu.
During interrogation, Daniel reportedly confessed to the crime and led police to Oba, where he had handed the children over to Onuwa to further their criminal plans.
SP Ikenga stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover and apprehend other members of the child theft syndicate. The case will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
The police commended the swift response of the operatives and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, especially children, from criminal elements across the state.
