Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso has conducted its Third Quarter Route March as part of efforts to sustain physical fitness, promote healthy living and enhance the operational readiness of its personnel.
The exercise, held on September 26, 2026, within the Egweama communities, was conducted in line with the Nigerian Navy’s Schedule of Events.
Personnel of the Base, alongside members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), participated in the route march, which focused on building physical endurance and maintaining the fitness required for effective military operations.
The exercise also reinforced the importance of regular physical activity as a key component of personnel welfare, discipline and operational preparedness within the Nigerian Navy.
Speaking after the exercise, the Commanding Officer, FOB Formoso, Capt. SK Haruna, commended participants for their commitment and enthusiasm towards sustaining the established culture of physical fitness and combat readiness.
Haruna said the exercise was particularly significant coming on the heels of the recently concluded CNC Live Firing Exercise, stressing the need for personnel to maintain the required level of physical fitness and operational preparedness.
He urged all participants to remain committed to regular physical exercise and healthy living, while encouraging them to take proper care of their health.
The successful conduct of the Third Quarter Route March underscored FOB Formoso’s commitment to maintaining a healthy, resilient and combat ready workforce in line with Nigerian Navy operational standards.
