Nigerian Navy Intercepts 106 Cannabis Parcels In Badagry Creeks, Hands Over To NDLEA

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Badagry has handed over 106 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa recovered during a targeted operation in the Badagry-Porto Novo creeks to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The items were recovered on Monday, September 7, 2026, by naval personnel deployed at the Naval Outpost Tongeji following credible human intelligence on suspected illicit drug activities within the maritime corridor.

The operation focused on suspected drug trafficking activities in the creeks, where naval personnel intercepted the consignment and recovered 106 parcels of the suspected narcotic substance.

The suspected traffickers, however, fled the area after sighting the naval patrol team, preventing the personnel from making any arrest during the operation.

The recovered items were subsequently handed over to officials of the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action in accordance with established procedures.

The Commanding Officer of FOB Badagry, Navy Captain Said Muhammed Kabir, represented by the Base Operations Officer, Lieutenant Commander Ehis Osabo Nathaniel, disclosed the development while briefing journalists on the operation.

He said the Nigerian Navy remained committed to tackling illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities across Nigeria’s maritime environment, stressing the importance of sustained operations and inter agency cooperation.

FOB Badagry also urged members of the public to provide security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious activities, assuring that the Navy would continue working with the NDLEA and other relevant agencies to strengthen security across the Badagry maritime corridor.
