Following the poorly orchestrated and failed attempt by one Martin Vincent Otse who parades himself as VeryDarkMan, a self professed activist, to propagate a fabricated narrative that an individual, he simply identified as David died in police custody during the well commended and appreciated tenure of AIG OLOHUNDARE JIMOH MOSHOOD as the then Commissioner of Police Lagos state, it is imperative to unequivocally state that the allegations are false, baseless and lack any substance of facts as there is no incidented record or report of such an incident.

For the avoidance of doubt, there is no official record whatsoever of any such incident occurring within the Lagos State Police Command during the widely acknowledged and exemplary tenure of AIG Olohundare Jimoh Moshood as Commissioner of Police. The allegation is a complete fabrication, deliberately concocted to mislead the public, malign the hard-earned reputation of the distinguished senior police officer, and undermine public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Consequently, author of the unfounded allegation has the burden of responsibility to provide credible fact at his disposal to substantiate his claims on the allege incident, if any. Therefore, he is to provide information on following:
■ The full identity of the alleged victim;
● The date the alleged incident allegedly occurred;
■ The police detention facility where the incident allegedly took place; and
■ Any other information that will assist the Police in conducting a thorough, impartial and discreet investigation.

Providing these particulars will enable the appropriate authorities to investigate the allegation objectively and establish the true facts.

It is pertinent to state that throughout the tenure of AIG Olohundare Jimoh Moshood as Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, no complaint—whether verbal or written—was received from any individual or family alleging that a relative died in any police detention facility within Lagos State.

The proponent of the allegation is encouraged to make available all relevant information in his possession to facilitate a thorough and impartial investigation, rather than resorting to sensational claims on social media. Should credible evidence be provided, it is certain that the Nigeria Police Force will investigate the matter transparently, in accordance with the law and ensure that justice is served.
