Lagos Central Senator Eshilokun Commends Zone 2 Police Pledges Security Support


The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting security initiatives in Lagos during a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.

The visit to the Zone 2 Headquarters in Lagos was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting a closer working relationship between the National Assembly and the Nigeria Police Force in tackling security challenges across Lagos and Ogun States.

Eshilokun, who was accompanied by members of his delegation, commended the leadership of Zone 2 for its professionalism, dedication and consistent efforts in protecting lives and property within the jurisdiction.

He praised the resilience of police officers in maintaining law and order despite evolving security threats, noting that their sacrifices had contributed significantly to the prevailing peace enjoyed in Lagos and its surrounding communities.

The senator urged officers and personnel of the command to remain focused on their constitutional responsibilities, assuring them of his continued legislative support for initiatives that would strengthen policing and public safety.

Eshilokun also stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between security agencies, elected representatives and community stakeholders as a critical strategy for addressing crime and improving public confidence in law enforcement.

Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a clear demonstration of confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and an encouragement to officers serving under challenging conditions.

The AIG reiterated the commitment of the Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to advancing community based policing, improving operational efficiency and consolidating security gains across Lagos and Ogun States.

He assured the senator that Zone 2 Command would continue to strengthen partnerships with government institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to enhance intelligence sharing, crime prevention and effective law enforcement.

The visit concluded with both leaders reaffirming their resolve to deepen cooperation in support of safer communities, sustained peace and improved security across Lagos Central, Lagos State and Ogun State, with a shared commitment to protecting lives, property and national development.
