…Blood trail in Ibafo exposes night of horror
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two security guards over the killing of a traveler in Ibafo, triggering a widening manhunt for other suspects believed to be on the run.
The suspects, identified as Isikilu Dauda, 55, and Rasaki Abbas, were apprehended by detectives from the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters following what authorities described as a swift and intelligence driven operation.
Police said the incident occurred in the early hours of April 10, 2026, after a concerned resident alerted authorities to a violent attack in the area.
Responding officers reportedly arrived the scene promptly, rescued the victim and rushed him to a medical facility in a desperate attempt to save his life.
However, the victim, who identified himself simply as Promise before losing consciousness, was later confirmed dead on arrival by attending doctors.
In his dying declaration, the traveler alleged that he had been attacked and macheted by security guards after arriving in the community late the previous night.
Preliminary findings revealed a disturbing trail of blood leading directly to one of the suspects, providing a crucial breakthrough that led to his arrest, while further intelligence operations resulted in the capture of the second suspect.
The police disclosed that other accomplices involved in the attack fled the scene, with coordinated efforts now underway to track and apprehend them.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where a comprehensive investigation is ongoing ahead of prosecution.
Condemning the killing, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni vowed that all those connected to the crime would be brought to justice, warning that the command would not tolerate unlawful violence or any form of extrajudicial action.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts by reporting suspicious activities through its emergency channels.
