The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a series of operational successes in its intensified efforts to eliminate criminal activities across the state, with the arrest of a notorious separatist group member, the rescue of three kidnapped victims, and the recovery of arms and incriminating items in coordinated security operations.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on July 15, 2025, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad apprehended Gospel Ozioma Nneto, also known as “OZ,” a 31-year-old suspected terrorist and armed robber. Nneto, identified as a key figure in a proscribed separatist group, was arrested in the early hours of the day.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being a photographer for the group and operating out of a camp called “Mother Valley,” located in the Orsumohu-Orsu axis. He is currently in custody as investigations continue to expose his network and operations.
In a separate operation, police operatives from the Nimo and Nteje Divisions, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, successfully rescued three kidnapped victims in different locations. Two female victims were rescued from a forest between Oraukwu and Nimo communities following a targeted search based on credible intelligence. Another victim was freed from captivity in a separate encounter with armed suspects.
Additionally, on July 14, 2025, police operatives from Nteje Division engaged two armed assailants in a gun duel while responding to an attempted attack. The operatives neutralised the suspects and recovered a pump-action gun, a dagger, and other incriminating materials from the scene.
The command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal syndicates involved in these incidents.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring residents and visitors of continued security across Anambra State.
