The Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Training DIG Isyaku Mohammed has successfully represented the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at the Passing-Out Parade of Intake One recruits of the Gambia Police Force.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium, marked the successful completion of the recruits’ training and their readiness to commence a new chapter of service to The Gambia.
The event was presided over by the Honourable Minister of Interior of The Gambia and attracted dignitaries and other stakeholders in the country’s security sector.
The Nigerian Police delegation added colour and prestige to the occasion, with the DIG’s appearance in the Nigeria Police Force’s distinctive ceremonial uniform reportedly attracting admiration and excitement among Gambians.
Although IGP Disu was unable to attend in person due to other pressing policing engagements, his representation by the DIG Training underscored Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening police-to-police relations, professional cooperation and institutional partnerships across Africa.
The participation of the Nigeria Police Force also provided an opportunity to reinforce longstanding security ties between Nigeria and The Gambia, particularly in the areas of police training, capacity development and professional exchange.
The passing-out parade formally signalled the transition of the newly trained recruits into active policing service, with expectations that they would uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in protecting lives and property.
