Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi B. Babaseyi has paid tribute to the late Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ogun State, CC Oludare Ogunjobi, describing his death as a painful loss and recalling the lasting impression he made through his composure, eloquence and impeccable dressing.
Babaseyi, in a heartfelt tribute, recalled meeting Ogunjobi during the Commissioner of Police’s visit to the FRSC command in Ogun State and a subsequent courtesy visit by public relations officers across the state. He said the late commander’s commanding presence, professionalism and elegance stood out during their encounters.
Beyond his official engagements, Babaseyi said his admiration for Ogunjobi deepened after discovering that they shared the same tailor. According to him, the tailor consistently spoke highly of the late commander, making his name familiar even before their paths crossed. News of his death immediately brought the tailor to mind, highlighting the profound impact Ogunjobi had made on people around him.
Although their personal encounters were limited, Babaseyi said Ogunjobi left an unforgettable impression, noting that a person’s true legacy extends beyond rank, uniform and official position to the lives touched and memories created. He described the late sector commander as an iroko whose towering presence would remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Babaseyi expressed condolences to Ogunjobi’s family, colleagues and loved ones, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss and give the deceased eternal rest. “An Iroko has fallen, but the memory of its towering presence will remain with us,” he said, bidding the late commander farewell with the words, “Sun re o, Sir. You will be remembered.”
