Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, founder of Jezco Oil and Jezco Group and father of Instagram celebrity Jowizaza, has reportedly been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Anambra State.
Ezeokafor was allegedly abducted last week while praying alone on a mountain in Awka, the Anambra State capital, according to a statement by lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu.
Iwuchukwu, in a Facebook post on Sunday, said the businessman had gone to the mountain without his usual security details and police personnel attached to him.
He alleged that the gunmen took advantage of Ezeokafor’s isolation during the prayer session before whisking him away to an undisclosed location.

The lawyer’s account has sparked concern in Ekwulobia, Ezeokafor’s hometown, where the reported incident has reportedly cast a shadow over community activities.
Iwuchukwu described Ezeokafor as one of the wealthiest individuals in the community, adding that the reported abduction had affected preparations for Ekwulobia’s annual New Yam Festival.
According to him, the festival was postponed because community members considered it inappropriate to proceed with the celebration while the family of the businessman, whom he described as an illustrious son of the community, was reportedly dealing with his abduction.
Iwuchukwu further claimed that Ezeokafor’s decision to visit the mountain without his regular security personnel exposed him to the alleged attackers.
The circumstances surrounding the reported abduction remain unclear, as there has been no official confirmation from the Anambra State Police Command or other security agencies on the incident.

There was also no confirmed information, as of the time of filing this report, on whether Ezeokafor had been rescued, whether contact had been established with his abductors or whether any suspect had been arrested.
