A Jacksonville State University basketball player, Adegboyega, has been arrested in Alabama, United States, over an alleged first degree rape incident involving a woman who visited his apartment, according to details presented during his bond hearing.
The alleged incident occurred on July 28, 2026, after the woman reportedly went to Adegboyega’s apartment to watch a movie. According to the account presented to authorities, the situation later changed after Adegboyega allegedly made unwanted sexual advances towards her.
The woman reportedly sent a private message to her roommate indicating that she was uncomfortable with what was happening. When the roommate subsequently attempted to reach her by phone without success, concerns were raised about her safety.
According to the account, Adegboyega eventually answered one of the calls and told the roommate that the woman was in the bathroom. The roommate then contacted police and requested a welfare check on the woman.
Police officers reportedly arrived at the apartment at about 2am and found the woman distressed. Authorities also observed blood stains on her trousers, according to information presented in the case.
The woman subsequently alleged that Adegboyega had raped her twice. Adegboyega, however, denied using force, according to the account of the proceedings.
A judge has since denied Adegboyega bail and ordered that he remain in custody without bond. The case remains an allegation, and the charge has yet to be determined through the judicial process.
During the bond hearing, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, Ty Unruh, reportedly testified that Adegboyega entered the United States on an F 1 student visa that expired in 2023. Unruh said that if granted bond, Adegboyega could be transferred to an immigration detention facility in Louisiana for immigration proceedings that could potentially result in his deportation to Nigeria.
