Fidelity Bank Plc has reinforced its commitment to community development with a far reaching intervention that has improved learning and living conditions for children at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos.

The initiative was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme, the bank’s flagship employee driven corporate social responsibility platform designed to empower staff to identify and execute impactful community projects with matching institutional support.
The outreach was spearheaded by the Audacious Class of newly inducted employees, who identified urgent needs at the orphanage and mobilised resources to provide lasting solutions.
Key interventions included the renovation of damaged roofing, replacement of the deteriorating POP ceiling, fumigation of the facility, supply of essential food items and payment of school fees for some of the children.
Speaking during the presentation, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr Meksley Nwagboh, said the programme reflects the bank’s unwavering commitment to creating sustainable social impact through employee participation.
According to him, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme enables employees to devote their time, skills and resources to projects that directly improve lives in communities where the bank operates.
He explained that the Audacious Class carefully assessed the orphanage’s most pressing challenges before implementing infrastructure upgrades, educational support and welfare interventions that would deliver lasting benefits.
Nwagboh said the intervention has provided the children with a safer environment, reliable food support and the confidence to continue their education, describing the outcome as the type of sustainable impact the initiative was created to achieve.
Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, commended Fidelity Bank for what she described as a timely and life changing intervention that has restored hope to the children and staff.
She said the comprehensive support, which covered facility renovation, fumigation, food supplies and payment of school fees, has significantly improved the quality of life within the orphanage while restoring dignity to the home.
Light also prayed for the continued growth and success of Fidelity Bank, praising the institution for consistently demonstrating compassion and genuine commitment to uplifting vulnerable members of society.
