The Ogun State Police Command has recovered the missing Lexus RX300 belonging to late veteran broadcaster and former Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, as investigators intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.
The recovery marks a significant development in a case that has attracted widespread public attention across Ogun State and beyond.
Police authorities confirmed that a comprehensive investigation remains ongoing following the discovery of Ms. Oyesiku and her security guard dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village. The incident was first reported to the Owode Egba Police Division after a concerned resident alerted security operatives to unusual activities around the property.
Following the report, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene to secure the premises and commence preliminary investigations. Investigators reportedly observed indications that the residence may have been unlawfully accessed before the deaths occurred.
During a thorough search of the compound, officers discovered the body of the security guard inside the security post located within the premises. The remains of Ms. Oyesiku were later found inside her apartment, prompting detectives to widen the scope of the investigation.
Police subsequently established that her Lexus RX300 vehicle was missing from the residence at the time of the initial assessment. The development led the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, to direct a coordinated and intelligence driven operation aimed at identifying those connected to the incident.
Security and investigative teams were thereafter mobilised to conduct surveillance, tracking and forensic inquiries across multiple locations linked to the case. The operation yielded a breakthrough with the successful recovery of the missing Lexus RX300 during an overnight police exercise.
Authorities disclosed that the vehicle has been secured and preserved as a critical exhibit expected to aid ongoing investigations.
Speaking on the case, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said there was currently no evidence suggesting that the deceased was attacked by gunmen, noting that no gunshot wounds were found on the body.
He urged members of the public and the media to refrain from circulating unverified reports, stressing that the Command remains committed to a thorough and professional investigation. The police spokesperson appealed for calm and assured that findings would be made public at the appropriate time.
To assess the progress made so far, CP Bode Ojajuni personally visited the scene, where he received detailed operational briefings from detectives handling the investigation.
He reiterated the Command’s resolve to pursue every available lead until those responsible are identified and brought to justice, while extending condolences to the family of the deceased, the management and staff of OGTV, the media community and all those affected by the tragic loss. As public interest in the case continues to grow, the Ogun State Police Command said substantial progress has been recorded and promised further updates as investigations advance.
