The South West School Based Management Committee, SBMC, has thrown its weight behind ongoing efforts by the federal government and the Nigerian Armed Forces to secure the release of seven abducted teachers and 39 pupils currently being held in captivity.
In a statement issued by the Council of Chairmen of the School Based Management Committee, South West Region, the group expressed confidence in the ability of security agencies to safely rescue all the victims.
The committee also commiserated with the family of Mr. Michael Oyedokun over the tragic loss recorded during the incident, describing the development as painful and unfortunate.
SBMC prayed for divine strength and comfort for the bereaved family, noting that the entire South West region shares in their grief at this difficult moment.
The group said it remained optimistic that the ongoing rescue operations being coordinated by the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies would yield positive results in no distant time.
According to the statement, the professionalism, courage and operational capacity of the nation’s security operatives continue to inspire hope among Nigerians despite prevailing security challenges.
SBMC further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his commitment to tackling security concerns and advancing developmental initiatives across the South West region.
The committee stated that the president’s interventions and leadership approach have continued to demonstrate concern for the welfare, safety and stability of communities in the region.
It urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified reports capable of creating tension or undermining ongoing rescue efforts by security authorities.
The group expressed confidence that the abducted teachers and pupils would soon reunite with their families safely, while also praying for lasting peace, security and stability across Nigeria.
