The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough following coordinated intelligence driven operations across Sango Ota, Owode Egba and Agbado, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects linked to armed robbery, burglary, stealing and public disturbance.
The operations, carried out by tactical teams from various divisions of the command, led to the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, stolen electrical appliances, cash and other exhibits believed to have been used in criminal activities across different communities in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrests reflected the command’s renewed determination to sustain aggressive crime fighting measures aimed at protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
At the Sango Ota Division, operatives arrested Pelumi Akintande, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery attack in the Alasia Community. The suspects were said to have dispossessed a resident of valuables during the operation.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects were tracked and apprehended following credible intelligence and swift intervention by operatives. A locally made cut to size pistol and one expended cartridge allegedly linked to the robbery were recovered during the operation.
In another operation, detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola, 22, for alleged house breaking and stealing in Ofada. The suspect was reportedly caught after scaling a fence and attempting to unlawfully gain access into a shop premises.
Further investigation reportedly connected the suspect to other burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical gadgets, cash exceeding N100,000 and personal belongings were allegedly stolen from residents. Police said recovered items had been secured as exhibits while investigations continued.
The command also confirmed the arrest of Tijani Jubril, 28, and Ezra Modi, 22, for alleged conspiracy and stealing within Treasure Island Estate in Awo Village. The suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances concealed inside a sack.
Preliminary findings by investigators indicated that the suspects forcefully gained entry into a residential property before removing valuable household items. The stolen appliances were recovered intact by the police during the operation.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Agbado Division arrested Waris Adebesin, 22, for allegedly causing public disturbance and threatening violence around a secondary school environment. Police recovered a knife from the suspect and said prompt intervention by officers helped prevent panic and restore calm within the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended officers involved in the operations for their professionalism, discipline and rapid response. He also praised residents for providing timely information that aided the successful arrests, assuring the public that the command would continue intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks and sustain peace across the state.
