The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a full scale investigation into the arrest of two male suspects apprehended during a coordinated security operation in the Atiba area of Ijebu Ode.
The suspects were intercepted on Thursday by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service during a routine operation aimed at strengthening security surveillance across the community.
Security sources disclosed that the two men were immediately taken into custody and later transferred to the Ogun State Police Command for further interrogation and profiling.
The Command stated that preliminary investigations are currently underway to establish the true identities of the suspects and unravel the circumstances surrounding their activities within the area.
Police authorities said detectives are also working to determine whether the suspects may have links to any criminal network or unlawful operation within Ogun State and neighbouring communities.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command assured residents that the security situation in Ijebu Ode and surrounding areas remains firmly under control.
The police further urged members of the public not to panic, stressing that every necessary measure is being taken to ensure a thorough, professional and lawful investigation into the matter.
According to the Command, any further action regarding the suspects will strictly depend on the outcome of ongoing investigations and intelligence findings gathered by security operatives.
