Personnel of Forward Operating Base FORMOSO set aside the rigours of military routine for moments of celebration and fellowship as the base hosted a grand Sallah party for officers, ratings and civilian staff in a vibrant atmosphere filled with unity and excitement.
The event, held on May 27, formed part of activities marking the Sallah season and the ongoing 70th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Navy, bringing together personnel across various cadres in a rare atmosphere of relaxation and bonding.
Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, Captain SK Haruna, led the gathering which witnessed officers, ratings and civilian staff sharing moments of laughter, conversation and celebration away from the usual operational environment.
The colourful gathering transformed the base from its traditional parade setting into a lively social arena where military discipline blended seamlessly with festive warmth and camaraderie among personnel.
Participants described the event as an important morale boosting initiative that strengthened interpersonal relationships and promoted deeper understanding among members of the base community.
One of the major attractions of the celebration was the relaxed interaction between senior officers and junior personnel, creating an uncommon opportunity for free engagement outside the strict formalities associated with military life.
Guests were treated to a rich variety of food and drinks as music filled the atmosphere, while personnel embraced the spirit of Sallah in a setting defined by friendship, togetherness and mutual respect.
The celebration also reinforced the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to promoting unity and welfare among its personnel, particularly during significant national and religious festivities.
Several attendees commended the leadership of Captain Haruna for creating an inclusive environment that encouraged teamwork, solidarity and stronger working relationships within the base.
As the celebration came to a close, personnel departed in high spirits, expressing appreciation for what many described as a memorable Sallah gathering that reflected the values of unity, happiness and shared purpose within the Nigerian Navy.
