The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dayo Mobereola, has urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, patriotism and national unity as Muslims across the country prepare to celebrate Eid al-Adha.
Mobereola made the appeal in a goodwill message addressed to staff of the agency, maritime stakeholders and the Muslim faithful, stressing that the season offers another opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on values that strengthen national cohesion.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, Osagie Edward, the NIMASA boss said the significance of Eid al-Adha goes beyond celebration and should inspire acts of compassion, devotion and selflessness.
He noted that the season symbolises the supreme act of obedience and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, whose willingness to submit to the command of Allah remains a timeless lesson for humanity.
Mobereola urged Nigerians to translate those virtues into practical actions by promoting peace, extending love to one another and showing greater commitment to national development.
He also encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in faith while supporting initiatives capable of strengthening unity and economic growth across the country.
The NIMASA Director General praised members of staff and stakeholders in the maritime sector for their continued dedication to the advancement of the nation’s maritime industry and the expansion of the Blue Economy agenda.
He said the contributions of industry players remain vital to ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the maritime sector as a major driver of sustainable economic prosperity.
Mobereola further expressed hope that the Eid celebration would usher in renewed peace, happiness and progress for families, businesses and communities nationwide.
He appealed to Nigerians to uphold the enduring values of empathy, charity, communal harmony and sacrifice, noting that collective commitment to those ideals remains essential to building a safer and more prosperous nation.
