The Nigerian Navy on Thursday deepened its community development drive with the commissioning of a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project at Mayo Belwa Central Primary School in Mayo Belwa.

The project was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Idi Abbas under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project initiative aimed at strengthening education and social infrastructure across communities.
The intervention included the renovation of six classroom blocks, construction of modern toilet facilities, installation of solar powered lighting systems, and provision of tables, chairs, and educational materials for pupils.
The initiative was executed in honour of Rear Admiral Abdulhamid Baba Inna as part of efforts to give back to his hometown and improve learning conditions for children in the area.

Represented at the ceremony by Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeeq, the naval chief described the project as a strategic contribution to national development through education support and community partnership.
He noted that the intervention aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme and supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on improving public welfare and infrastructure.
According to him, the Quick Impact Project initiative also provides an opportunity for the Nigerian Navy to honour distinguished senior officers who have made meaningful contributions to national service.
The naval authorities stressed that investing in education remains critical to nation building, particularly in underserved communities where access to quality learning facilities remains a challenge.

Community leaders and residents who attended the ceremony hailed the intervention as a timely development capable of transforming the learning environment for hundreds of schoolchildren.
The Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, represented by Ardo Bamanga Dalil, commended the Chief of the Naval Staff for approving the project for the community.
Dalil described the initiative as a landmark intervention that would significantly boost primary education development in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area and improve academic outcomes for pupils.
Speaking during the event, Rear Admiral Abdulhamid Baba Inna expressed appreciation to the naval leadership for creating the platform that enabled him to contribute to the growth and development of his hometown.
He said the intervention reflected the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening relationships with host communities while supporting grassroots development initiatives across the country.

The commissioning ceremony attracted top government officials from Adamawa State, senior military officers, heads of paramilitary agencies, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.
The event also underscored the increasing role of the Nigerian Armed Forces in complementing government efforts toward educational advancement, rural development, and improved living standards in local communities across Nigeria.
