The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed a fatal road traffic crash on the Apapa Oshodi corridor in Lagos that claimed one life and left six others injured in a late night collision on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
The crash occurred at about 22:25 hours along Isolo Okota Road axis of the busy Apapa Oshodi expressway, a major logistics route in Lagos State.
It involved a blue Mack truck and a yellow Suzuki Every commercial bus, both reportedly without registration numbers at the time of the incident.
Preliminary findings by FRSC indicate that speed violation was the immediate cause of the deadly crash, in line with recurring concerns over excessive speeding on Lagos highways.
Seven male adults were involved in the collision, with one confirmed dead on the spot while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency response teams from the FRSC Apapa Unit Command arrived promptly at the scene following distress alerts and carried out rescue operations.
The injured victims were evacuated to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Surulere where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The crashed vehicles were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at Isolo Division for further investigation and necessary enforcement action.
The Lagos Sector Commander of FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde G Hamzat, condemned the crash and warned motorists against speeding and reckless driving on public roads.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured victims a quick and full recovery, while urging strict adherence to road safety regulations.
