A dramatic political wave swept through Nsukka at the weekend as stakeholders across Enugu North Senatorial District rallied in a massive show of solidarity, endorsing Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally, marked by an electrifying turnout and a symbolic ₦102 million donation, has been widely interpreted as an early signal of grassroots support for continuity in governance at both the state and federal levels.
Frontline aspirant for the Igboetiti Uzo Uwani Federal Constituency seat, Sir Engr Ucheonwu Prince Henry Hart, described the endorsement as a decisive vote of confidence in leadership that has delivered tangible results.
Speaking shortly after the event, Hart noted that the gathering transcended routine political mobilisation, portraying it instead as a spontaneous expression of popular will anchored on performance and trust.
He said the scale of participation reflected deep rooted satisfaction among the people, adding that the endorsement was driven by visible development strides and a shared vision for sustained progress.
According to him, the ₦102 million contribution was not merely financial support but a bold declaration of unity and collective resolve to advance the development trajectory of Enugu State.
Hart stressed that the gesture underscored the readiness of the people to invest in leadership they believe in, reinforcing confidence in the current administration’s direction.
He commended Governor Mbah for what he termed transformative achievements in critical sectors, particularly infrastructure, education and healthcare delivery.
He pointed to ongoing road projects, the introduction of smart schools and improvements in health services as key indicators of purposeful governance that have resonated with citizens.
On the national front, Hart emphasised the strategic importance of backing President Tinubu, noting that ongoing economic reforms require patience and continuity to fully materialise.
He argued that the endorsement signalled a growing understanding among the electorate that long term stability often demands sustained policy direction.
Reaffirming his ambition, Hart pledged to align with both state and federal development agendas if elected, promising to channel greater benefits to his constituency through effective representation.
He maintained that his aspiration is rooted in service, integrity and a commitment to complement existing efforts in delivering democratic dividends to the grassroots.
The rally, organised by the All Progressives Congress in the zone, drew a broad coalition of stakeholders including traditional rulers, political leaders, youth and women groups, as well as members of the business community.
With its scale, symbolism and financial backing, the Nsukka convergence now stands as a defining political moment, setting the tone for what promises to be an intense build up to the 2027 elections.
