The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has congratulated Ms. Elizabeth Aina Egharevba on her 70th birthday, describing her as a distinguished figure in Nigeria’s maritime history whose service remains exemplary.
Oyetola said the milestone calls for national celebration, noting that Egharevba’s life represents decades of commitment, discipline, and exceptional contribution to the growth of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
He highlighted her nearly three decades of service at the Nigerian Ports Authority, where she consistently demonstrated professionalism, administrative strength, and operational excellence across key departments.
The Minister recalled her landmark appointment in November 2007 as the first female Executive Director, Marine and Operations, describing it as a defining moment that reshaped leadership dynamics within the agency.
Oyetola noted that her elevation to top management significantly advanced gender inclusion, opening doors for greater participation of women in leadership roles within the maritime industry.
He also referenced her earlier roles as Port Manager of the Roll On Roll Off Port and later Lagos Port Complex Apapa, saying she handled both positions with rare competence and strong administrative capacity.
According to the Minister, Egharevba earned widespread respect across the sector through her integrity, diligence, and consistent demonstration of leadership in demanding operational environments.
Oyetola said her career continues to serve as inspiration for younger professionals, particularly women aspiring to leadership positions in public service and maritime administration.
He commended her for building a legacy that extends beyond personal achievement, stressing that her contributions remain visible in the ongoing development of Nigeria’s port system.
The Minister concluded by wishing her continued good health, happiness, and fulfillment, adding that her life’s work will remain an enduring reference point in the nation’s maritime evolution.
