The Nigerian Army has recorded sweeping operational gains across multiple theatres, dealing heavy blows to terrorist elements, rescuing kidnapped victims and dismantling criminal supply chains in coordinated actions within the last 24 hours.
The operations, driven by actionable intelligence and inter-agency collaboration, underline a renewed offensive posture aimed at degrading insurgent capabilities and restoring security across troubled regions.
In Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade, working alongside the Nigeria Police and local vigilantes, struck at criminal enclaves in Kakuma Ileteju, Origa and Ijumu villages, arresting two suspected terrorists and recovering motorcycles and chainsaw machines used for illicit activities.
A similar breakthrough was recorded in Kaduna State where troops of Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA apprehended a suspected terrorist at Afaka, who reportedly confessed to fleeing a camp following internal clashes among insurgent leaders.
In Sokoto State, troops of COAS Intervention Battalion VII supported by 8 Division elements cleared several villages in Tangaza Local Government Area, dismantling a terrorist camp and rescuing a Nigerien national held in captivity for over three weeks.
Operations in Niger State further disrupted criminal networks as troops neutralised threats by safely disposing of an improvised explosive device, arresting five suspects and destroying both terrorist hideouts and illegal mining sites.
The army also recorded notable successes in rescue missions. In Kwara State, troops responding to a distress call forced abductors to abandon three kidnapped victims, while in Edo State coordinated operations led to the rescue of victims and the arrest of five suspected kidnappers alongside the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
Additional breakthroughs in Edo and Delta states saw the rescue of two kidnapped farmers and the arrest of a suspected IPOB operative at Umunede junction, reinforcing ongoing efforts to curb violent criminality in the region.
In the South-South, troops of 2 Brigade intensified the crackdown on drug trafficking in Akwa Ibom State, arresting six suspects and seizing quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, codeine and other illicit substances, alongside cash proceeds from suspected drug sales.
Meanwhile, in Rivers State, troops uncovered and dismantled an extensive illegal bunkering network, recovering pipelines, reservoirs, refining equipment and petroleum products, in a move aimed at crippling economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
Further operations in Plateau State led to the arrest of nine suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, motorcycles and communication devices, while in Abia State troops intercepted sacks of suspected stolen crude oil concealed along the Imo River axis.
