…Grassroots power meets experience in high stakes assembly race
Hon. Dr. Musiliu Alade Aigoro has formally declared his intention to contest for Kosofe Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, unveiling a candidacy anchored on experience, credibility and enduring grassroots connection.
His entry into the race signals what observers describe as a calculated move built on years of administrative exposure, academic depth and sustained engagement with community structures across the constituency.
In an interview, Aigoro traced his academic journey through Political Science to advanced studies in Public Administration and International Studies, disclosing that he is concluding a Doctorate in Public Administration with a focus on Public Policy Analysis.
He further strengthened his professional profile with fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration as well as the Mentoring and Career Development Institute of Nigeria, positioning himself within the league of trained public sector leaders.
Aigoro maintained that leadership in a complex state like Lagos demands not just ambition but demonstrable competence, insisting that governance must be driven by capacity, knowledge and a clear sense of responsibility to the people.
Widely regarded as a community bridge builder, he pointed to his long standing involvement in conflict resolution across Kosofe, where market leaders, transport unions including the NURTW and other stakeholders frequently rely on his interventions.
He also highlighted his role in youth empowerment, noting efforts to facilitate employment opportunities within the Lagos State Government while supporting indigent students to access higher education, particularly at Lagos State University.
Within the All Progressives Congress, Aigoro’s footprint spans several strategic assignments, including coordinating the Babajide Sanwo Olu Campaign Organisation in Kosofe in 2019 and playing key roles in multiple legislative and senatorial campaigns across the state.
He noted that his contributions within party structures reflect consistency and loyalty, adding that such experience has prepared him for the rigours of legislative responsibilities and effective representation.
A former commissioner in the Lagos State Audit Service Commission, Aigoro acknowledged the confidence reposed in him by Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, stating that the role enabled him to quietly drive community interventions and youth focused initiatives.
Drawing from extensive grassroots consultations across Ogudu, Ifako, Oworonshoki, Anthony, Mende and Ojota, he said his understanding of local challenges is both practical and data driven, shaping a focused legislative agenda.
He outlined priorities around impactful lawmaking, effective oversight and responsive representation, with emphasis on infrastructure renewal, improved public services and policies that deliver measurable benefits.
Aligning with the reform direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aigoro stressed the need to balance long term economic restructuring with immediate measures that ease the burden on citizens.
He concluded with a firm pledge to bridge the gap between government and the grassroots, assuring constituents of a representation that is accessible, accountable and firmly rooted in the realities of Kosofe.
