…Army Chief Rallies Stakeholders for Enduring Peace

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday undertook a decisive security assessment visit to Jos, Plateau State, leading a high-powered delegation of heads of security agencies in a move signalling urgency and resolve.
The on-the-spot assessment, conducted on April 2, 2026, forms a critical part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the state and reinforce a framework for lasting peace amid evolving security concerns.
On arrival, the Army Chief was received by the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring a strong alignment between military leadership and civil authority in confronting emerging threats.
The visit immediately transitioned into a strategic engagement, as the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, delivered a detailed operational briefing.
The session outlined ongoing military actions, inter-agency coordination, and proactive deployments designed to contain threats, safeguard lives and property, and restore normalcy in troubled communities.
In a direct outreach to the people, Shaibu met with community leaders and residents, offering reassurance of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens across Plateau State.
He urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, stressing the importance of compliance with the curfew and cooperation with security agencies to ensure the success of ongoing operations and investigations.
Local authorities welcomed the intervention, with Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Dachung Bagos, describing the visit as timely and confidence-boosting for residents grappling with uncertainty.
Similarly, the Councillor representing Naraguta ‘B’ Ward, Hon. Ladi Dangyok, praised the swift response, noting that the presence of top military leadership sends a powerful message of reassurance to affected communities.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to a coordinated approach, working closely with sister agencies, the Plateau State Government, and key stakeholders to dismantle threats, strengthen resilience, and secure enduring peace across the state.
