…Insurgents Flee as Military Tightens Grip on Supply Lines

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have dealt a decisive blow to insurgent networks in the North East, foiling coordinated attacks and intercepting massive logistics consignments in a string of high-impact operations.

The Joint Task Force recorded the breakthroughs between March 28 and 30, 2026, in a sustained offensive that combined surveillance, intelligence and rapid response across multiple flashpoints in Borno State.

In Damboa, troops thwarted a planned assault by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters after detecting suspicious movements through surveillance systems. A swift engagement forced the insurgents into a chaotic retreat, abandoning their mission.

Follow-up exploitation operations confirmed the withdrawal, reinforcing the effectiveness of proactive intelligence in disrupting imminent threats before execution.
Elsewhere, attempted attacks on farmers and vulnerable communities in Gwoza and Askira Uba were decisively repelled, with fleeing insurgents traced towards the Mandara mountain corridor.

The momentum continued along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis, where troops uncovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device planted to target both military personnel and civilian commuters along the strategic route.

Recovered materials at the scene, including rail tracks arranged to funnel vehicles into a deadly trap, underscored the sophistication of the foiled ambush.

In a major logistics crackdown, troops intercepted vehicles laden with suspected terrorist supplies along the Maiduguri–Mafa road. The items, equivalent to two truckloads, were concealed in sacks and included medical drugs, motorcycle components, mats, mosquito nets and other materials believed to sustain insurgent operations.

The vehicles and suspects were promptly taken into custody, with preliminary findings indicating the supplies were destined for Kusuri, a border settlement near Chad without requisite clearance.

Further operations led to the arrest of multiple logistics suppliers and collaborators across key locations including Molai, Muna Garage and Gubio. Security sources confirmed that several suspects admitted to prolonged involvement in supplying critical materials to terrorist elements.

In a related development, troops intercepted a suspected insurgent operative, identified as Abubakar Ali, also known as Saina, at a checkpoint while attempting to infiltrate Maiduguri on a suspected reconnaissance mission.

Additional security sweeps in Damboa and surrounding areas led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, while cordon-and-search operations in Gamboru and adjoining locations yielded significant quantities of illicit substances abandoned by fleeing traffickers.

The military high command has commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, urging sustained pressure on insurgent networks to deny them freedom of action and restore lasting stability across the North East.
