The Cross River State Police Command on Tuesday received the management of the Nigerian Television Authority, Calabar, in a visit that underscored growing collaboration between security agencies and the media.
The delegation, led by the General Manager, Mr. Samuel Adekunle, was hosted by the Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, alongside members of the Command’s management team at the state headquarters.
The visit, described as strategic, comes amid renewed efforts to strengthen public communication and reinforce trust in policing across the state.
Speaking during the meeting, Adekunle commended the police leadership for what he termed sustained and visible strides in safeguarding lives and property.
He particularly highlighted the Command’s proactive policing model, noting that it has contributed to improved public confidence and operational responsiveness.
Adekunle stressed the critical role of the media in security architecture, calling for deeper collaboration to ensure accurate, timely and objective reportage of policing activities.
He assured the Command of NTA Calabar’s commitment to supporting security efforts through responsible journalism and continuous public enlightenment.
In his response, Afegbua welcomed the delegation, describing the Nigerian Television Authority as a credible national platform with a longstanding reputation for professionalism.
The police chief reiterated that the media remains an indispensable partner in promoting transparency, accountability and effective policing.
He further applauded the station’s consistency in timely reportage and urged the sustenance of the existing partnership to deepen public awareness on security matters.
As the meeting drew to a close, the Commissioner presented a commemorative plaque to the General Manager, symbolising a shared commitment to stronger collaboration and public trust.
