The Ogun State Police Command has provided fresh insight into the rape allegation made on TikTok by Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, stating that the matter is undergoing due process amid heightened public attention.
In a development that underscores the sensitivity of the case, the Command confirmed that the complainant voluntarily presented herself at the police station following her online claims, prompting immediate procedural steps by investigators.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, disclosed that upon her arrival, she was formally received and subsequently escorted to a medical facility for examination in line with investigative protocol.
The medical evaluation, according to the Command, was considered a critical component of the fact-finding process, aimed at establishing verifiable evidence to support or refute the allegation.
Police authorities further noted that the complainant has remained cooperative with investigators, providing necessary statements and clarifications as the inquiry progresses.
In what officials described as a welfare-driven intervention, the Command approved her release into the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to ensure adequate psychosocial and protective support.
The Ministry, the police said, has formally assumed responsibility for her wellbeing and has undertaken to make her available to investigators whenever required.
The Command emphasised that the transfer does not in any way signal a slowdown in the probe, stressing that investigative processes remain active and ongoing.
