STRATEGIC SIGNALS FROM CALABAR: CP Rashid Afegbua Hosts Amphibious Training School Commandant

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, psc, mnips, alongside members of his management team, on 10th February, 2026, hosted the Commandant, Amphibious Training School, Calabar, Brigadier General M. I. Amatso, MSS, psc, FWC, IASD, FCM, at the Command Headquarters, Calabar.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Command, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, MNISMA, the Commandant, who is the 37th Commandant of the Amphibious Training School, stated that the visit was to familiarize himself with the Command following his recent posting and to strengthen inter-agency cooperation between both formations.

He explained that the Amphibious Training School is tasked with training personnel on water survival and amphibious operational skills to enhance tactical advantage, particularly within riverine environments. He further sought a more robust partnership and synergy between officers and men of both institutions across all ranks to promote esprit de corps.

In his response, CP Rashid B. Afegbua appreciated the visit, describing it as commendable and unprecedented. The Commissioner of Police emphasized the need for sustained collaboration and continuous monitoring of the waterways to proactively curb criminal activities.

The CP assured the Commandant of the Police Command’s continued support and partnership, noting that the Command has enjoyed consistent cooperation from the military components in the state since his assumption of office.

The visit underscores the commitment of both formations to enhanced inter-agency synergy in the interest of public safety and security.
