CYBERBULLYING: Police Arraign Blogger @JustAdetoun, File Six-Count Charge over Alleged Online Attacks on Ogun Govt

The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count criminal charge against popular social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as @JustAdetoun, over alleged cyberbullying, false accusations and attempts to obstruct police investigations.

The charges, which are now pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court, stem from allegations that the blogger engaged in sustained online attacks against the Ogun State Government and Governor, in violation of provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.

In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, the police said investigations revealed that Onajobi allegedly used various internet-enabled platforms to disseminate false information and publish defamatory content targeting the state government and its leadership.

According to the police, On January 2, 2026, the command invited the blogger for an interview to allow her respond to allegations arising from her online activities. However, she reportedly failed to honour the invitation. Instead, her lawyer wrote to the police, claiming that she was medically indisposed and unable to appear.

Attached to the letter was a medical report purportedly issued by a medical doctor, outlining several health challenges allegedly suffered by the suspect and detailing efforts to stabilise her condition.

The police said discreet investigations later established that the medical report was false. Following further inquiry, the doctor who issued the report was arrested and reportedly confessed that the document was fabricated at the instance of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation, allegedly facilitated by her lawyer.
Consequently, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstruction of justice.

The police disclosed that Onajobi has since remained evasive, rebuffing repeated invitations extended to her, while her current whereabouts remain unknown.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to tackle all forms of crime violent, white-collar or digital while upholding the constitutional rights of all citizens,” the statement said.

The Command, however, stressed that while freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed, it does not confer immunity from criminal liability when exercised outside the bounds of the law.

Police authorities also revealed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly connected to the dissemination of false information aimed at obstructing the investigation. They added that all lawful means would be deployed to locate and produce the suspect before the court to answer the charges already filed against her.
