“I Lost a Brother, Not Just an Orderly” — Alabi Grieves
Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Abiodun Alabi, fdc (Rtd), has been thrown into deep mourning following the untimely death of his long-serving and trusted Orderly, Inspector Vincent Tolulope, who died in a fatal motor accident on Wednesday, November 20, 2025.
In an emotional statement issued by his Media Aide, Joshua Uloko, the retired DIG described the loss as “deeply personal, heart-breaking, and painfully irreparable.” The accident, which involved the late Inspector’s vehicle, reportedly claimed his life on the spot, leaving colleagues, friends, and the police community in shock.
DIG Alabi emphasized that Inspector Tolulope was far more than a security aide. He was a loyal companion, a confidant, and a dependable officer who stood by him throughout his years of active service.
“Vincent was my right-hand man, my brother in uniform, and a friend whose loyalty knew no bounds. Every officer dreams of having someone so dependable, committed, and selfless by their side. Losing him feels like losing a part of my family,” DIG Abiodun Alabi (Rtd)
Colleagues and associates described late Inspector Tolulope as a disciplined, humble, and courageous officer whose cheerful personality and professionalism left a lasting impression. He had served as part of Alabi’s security team for several years, earning admiration for his dedication and reliability.
The retired DIG expressed heartfelt condolences to Tolulope’s family and pledged continuous support during their period of grief.
“I pray that God grants Vincent eternal rest and gives his family the strength to bear this tragic loss,”
The tragic incident has sparked widespread condolences within the Nigerian Police Force and among senior officers nationwide. Many described the death as a significant blow, particularly given the close bond between the retired DIG and the late Inspector.
DIG Alabi urged serving officers to honour Inspector Tolulope’s memory by upholding the values he embodied, discipline, loyalty, dedication, and selfless service.
“This is a painful and personal loss. But Vincent’s integrity, loyalty, and devotion to duty will remain in our hearts forever,”
