STRENGTHENING SECURITY SYNERGY: ACG Agboje Visits GOC 81 Division ToDeepen Collaboration

The Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG) in charge of Zone A Headquarters, covering Lagos and Ogun States, ACG Jude Agboje, has paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration.

The visit, which took place on 11 November 2025, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) and the Nigerian Army, particularly in the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates within correctional centres across Zone A.

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, the engagement was centered on fostering operational synergy and exploring areas of mutual support between both institutions.

During the visit, ACG Agboje highlighted the need for sustained partnership with the Nigerian Army to achieve the Service’s rehabilitation mandate. He appealed for assistance in areas such as vocational training, manpower development, and infrastructural support, which he said are vital to the reformation and reintegration of inmates back into society.

Responding, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Correctional Service and other security agencies operating within its Area of Responsibility (AOR).

He commended the professionalism and resilience of NCoS personnel, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining internal security despite daunting challenges. Major General Mijinyawa further assured that 81 Division would continue to promote inter-agency cooperation and safeguard correctional facilities within its jurisdiction.

The GOC also directed commanders under the Division to maintain close liaison with correctional centers in their areas to deepen mutual understanding and collaboration.

The visit was rounded off with the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register, and group photographs, symbolizing the strengthening of ties between both institutions.
