
As part of ongoing preparations for the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the State Police Command has intensified training and retraining of its personnel on election security management.
The Command, in partnership with relevant Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and key stakeholders, has continued to organize capacity-building workshops across all Area Commands, Divisions, and Tactical Units in the state. The sessions focus on professionalism in election duties, effective crowd control, intelligence sharing, inter-agency collaboration, and the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to neutrality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the election period. He noted that the continuous training initiatives are aimed at boosting officers’ operational efficiency and readiness to ensure the safety of voters, election materials, and electoral officials.
CP Orutugu further assured that the Command will maintain close synergy with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.

The Command also appealed to residents of the state to remain law-abiding and extend full cooperation to security personnel deployed for election duties to ensure a smooth and hitch-free exercise across Anambra State.
