Nigerian Army, Media To Forge Stronger Alliance At 2025 Abuja Seminar On National Security Reporting

In a strategic move to deepen ties with the media and promote accurate, security conscious reporting, the Nigerian Army will host its Combined Third and Fourth Quarter Media Training Seminar from October 6th to 10th, 2025. The seminar, convened by the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR), is set to take place at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

According to the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel O.A. Anele, this year’s seminar will centre on the theme: “Enhancing Responsible Media Reportage of the Nigerian Army’s Operations in a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment for Enhanced National Security.” She emphasized that the initiative reflects the Army’s continued commitment to fostering transparent, fact-based communication within Nigeria’s evolving security environment.

The event will bring together a cross-section of journalists, defence correspondents, media executives, and strategic communication experts for a series of discussions, workshops, and knowledge sharing sessions. Key areas of focus include improving the quality and responsibility of media coverage on military operations, reinforcing civil-military cooperation, and advancing unified messaging in joint inter-agency operations.

By building stronger bridges between the press and the military, the Army aims to ensure that national security narratives remain both accurate and aligned with the broader interests of peace, stability, and public trust.

The seminar is part of the Army’s broader engagement strategy to institutionalize responsible journalism and strategic communication in support of national defense objectives.
