The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a commercial tricycle just hours after it was reportedly stolen at Isuaniocha in Awka North Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, at about 2:20 p.m., when a tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge by armed men who dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.
Operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad were immediately mobilised to the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to a hospital where he is said to be responding to treatment.
Acting on technology-driven intelligence, the operatives traced the suspects to Awarasi Village, Uga, in Aguata LGA, where the stolen tricycle was recovered. The suspects — identified as 26-year-old Kosisochukwu Nweke, 24-year-old Emmanuel Eze, and 20-year-old Osondu Ifeanyi — were arrested after attempting to escape but were given a hot chase by the police.
Ikenga added that investigations are ongoing to uncover further leads into their criminal activities. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
