AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, Assumes Office As 23rd Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Maritime Command


The Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, Lagos, formally received AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, who has assumed duty as the 23rd Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command.

According to a statement signed by the PRO, ASP Adebayo Rasheed, anipr., “AIG Chinedu Oko psc, a seasoned officer with over three decades of distinguished service, takes over from AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, psc(+), IIPS, PSPS, who has been redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna.

AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, hails from Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Calabar.

He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992. AIG Chinedu Oko has served meritoriously across key departments of the Force, including Administration, Intelligence, Investigation, and Operations.

A versatile and accomplished police administrator, AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, has attended several intelligence courses both locally and internationally, and notably served as the pioneer facilitator at Police Intelligence School, Enugu. He was once the Commissioner of Police, Homicide Section, FCID Annex, Lagos, and until his current posting as AIG Maritime, he served as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

As he assumes office, AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, has pledged to build upon the legacies of his predecessors, deepen collaboration with maritime stakeholders, and reposition the Command to effectively safeguard Nigeria’s maritime domain while strengthening the policing of the nation’s blue economy.

The Command calls on maritime stakeholders, sister agencies, and the general public to extend their full cooperation to AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, as he takes charge the affairs of the Maritime Police Command in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.
