UBA Marks 10 Years of Digital Innovation With VERiCASH, Launches Customer Reward Promo


United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc is celebrating a decade of groundbreaking digital banking transformation in partnership with fintech giant VERiCASH, as it launches a special reward campaign for its mobile banking customers.

The partnership, which began ten years ago, led to the creation of the award-winning UBA Mobile App — now one of Nigeria’s most downloaded banking apps with over 10 million downloads. The app has revolutionised the way millions across Africa access financial services, delivering secure, user-friendly, and innovative banking experiences.

To mark the milestone, UBA has unveiled a “UBA/VERiCASH Celebratory Promo,” which will reward loyal customers for using the mobile app. For 10 weeks, 10 customers who purchase airtime via the UBA Mobile App will win 10 times the value of airtime bought, every day.

Speaking on the milestone, Shamsideen Fashola, Group Head, Retail and Digital Banking, praised the strategic partnership for positioning UBA as Africa’s premier digital bank. “This partnership has helped us bridge financial gaps and drive inclusion across more than 20 African countries,” he said, noting that UBA’s platforms have enabled millions of unbanked individuals to participate in the formal financial system from the comfort of their homes.

Chairman of CIT VERiCASH, Ashraf Zaki, described the partnership as transformative. “Our collaboration with UBA over the past decade has not only driven digital adoption but reshaped the African banking landscape. Together, we have delivered a platform that rivals global standards in digital banking.”

Alero Ladipo, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications at UBA, expressed gratitude to customers and emphasized the importance of their feedback and loyalty. “Your trust has been the driving force behind our innovation. This promo is a token of appreciation to every customer who made this journey possible,” she said.

With over 45 million customers globally and a workforce of 25,000 employees, UBA continues to lead in financial inclusion and digital banking innovation. The bank operates in 20 African countries as well as the UK, USA, France, and the UAE.
