TSSF 6.0: NCC To Champion Sustainable Growth of MVNOs In Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is set to take centre stage at the 6th edition of the Telecom Sector Sustainability Forum (TSSF 6.0), where it will lead strategic discussions on the sustainable growth and future of Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in Nigeria’s telecom sector.

Organized by Business Remarks, the forum is scheduled for August 26, 2025, and is themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s MVNO Potential: Status, Trends, Investment, and Future Prospects.” The event aims to galvanize industry stakeholders around key strategies for integrating MVNOs into Nigeria’s evolving digital economy, fostering innovation, competition, and service inclusivity.

With the NCC’s recent issuance of 43 MVNO licenses and the introduction of a five-tier licensing framework with a 10-year validity period, the Commission has laid a clear regulatory path for new entrants, encouraging market diversity and deeper service penetration into underserved regions.

As part of its keynote presentation at TSSF 6.0, the NCC will articulate its regulatory roadmap, policy interventions, and long-term vision for creating a viable MVNO ecosystem. Industry experts believe that with the right infrastructure access and enabling regulatory support, MVNOs can harness existing network capacities to deliver niche, value-added services to customers while boosting sectoral competition.

In a statement, Mrs. Bukola Olanrewaju, Convener of the forum and Managing Editor of Business Remarks, underscored the significance of collaboration:

“TSSF 6.0 is designed to be a melting pot of ideas, bringing together Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), MVNOs, telecom infrastructure providers, ISPs, technology experts, and regulators. Our goal is to ignite conversations that will shape the sustainable future of MVNOs and drive digital inclusion across Nigeria.”

The forum will feature a mix of interactive sessions, panel discussions, and paper presentations, offering a platform for stakeholders to address challenges, exchange insights, and explore collaborative pathways to scale MVNO growth in Nigeria.

As the global MVNO market experiences exponential growth, Nigeria’s proactive steps in regulation and innovation position it to tap into new opportunities for telecom expansion, digital access, and economic empowerment.

The Telecom Sector Sustainability Forum has become an annual thought-leadership event dedicated to resolving pressing issues in the Nigerian telecom sector. It fosters knowledge exchange, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships essential for building a resilient and future-ready industry.
