The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has concluded a strategic management retreat designed to align the Agency’s operations with the Presidential and Ministerial priorities for the maritime and blue economy sector.
The retreat, held under the leadership of the Director General/CEO of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, focused on cascading the Federal Government’s vision across all levels of the Agency to ensure effective implementation and measurable results.

A key highlight of the retreat was the signing of Performance Bonds by Departmental and Unit Heads with the Executive Management, symbolizing a renewed commitment to accountability and performance-driven service delivery.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Mobereola underscored the Federal Government’s focus on results-oriented governance, stressing that the bonds were binding and not mere formalities.

“The signing of this bond is not symbolic; it is binding,” he stated. “Every Head of Department and Unit must cascade the outcomes and expectations from this retreat to their subordinates without delay. Anyone found creating bottlenecks or underperforming will be held accountable.”
According to him, the bonds represent a formal pledge to deliver on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tied to NIMASA’s broader mandate of repositioning the maritime industry and driving Nigeria’s blue economy growth.

The retreat also featured peer review sessions, robust discussions, and strategic engagements aimed at unlocking the sector’s potential while reinforcing NIMASA’s pivotal role in maritime safety, regulation, and economic advancement.
Dr. Mobereola reaffirmed that the Agency will continue to align its policies and operations with the administration’s objectives, ensuring that Nigeria maximizes the opportunities within its maritime domain.
