The Friends of Regent Primary School (FORPS), Maitama, Abuja, has donated two manual boreholes to the Kogo II and Barangoni communities in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
The boreholes, commissioned on Friday, July 4, 2025, were handed over in separate ceremonies attended by community leaders, school representatives, and residents.
Speaking during the commissioning, Chairperson of FORPS, Mrs. Salma Dahiru Muhammed, described the gesture as part of the group’s long-standing commitment to improving lives through meaningful community interventions. She noted that access to clean water remains a challenge in several parts of Abuja, and the initiative was aimed at addressing that gap.
“Access to clean water is a basic human necessity. This initiative is aimed at providing sustainable potable water, promoting better health, and improving the living conditions of the people in these communities,” she said. She thanked all donors and volunteers whose support made the project possible and reaffirmed FORPS’s commitment to more social impact projects.
Also speaking at the event, the Headmaster of Regent Primary School, Mr. Shaun Stockden, noted that the entire project was conceived and completed within seven months. He explained that FORPS organizes annual fundraisers that support impactful initiatives, adding that more interventions are in the pipeline.
Vice Chairperson of FORPS, Mrs. Fiona Ewa, highlighted a viral video that showed people and animals sharing the same water source in some rural areas, which deeply inspired the group to act. “We knew something had to be done,” she said, emphasizing the transformational impact of clean water access.
She added that each borehole is designed to supply up to 3,000 liters of clean water daily, significantly improving hygiene, reducing disease, and supporting the daily needs of the communities.
In separate responses, Chief Samuel Gimba of Kogo II and Mr. Timothy Yohana of Barangoni communities expressed their profound gratitude to FORPS, describing the gesture as life-changing. They both pledged to ensure the proper maintenance and longevity of the facilities.
The borehole donation marks another milestone in FORPS’s mission to empower underserved communities through sustainable development and practical support.
