FCT Police Warn Against Planned Attack On Task Force Officials By Okada Riders In Kubwa

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a strong warning against an alleged plot by some commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as *Okada* riders, to launch a violent attack on Task Force officials operating in the Kubwa area of Abuja.

This follows the circulation of a voice note on social media alleging plans for a coordinated assault by disgruntled riders on Friday, July 11, 2025.

In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, the police described the alleged plan as a criminal act that will be met with the full force of the law. The Command emphasized that any individual or group found planning or inciting violence against law enforcement personnel would face immediate arrest, prosecution, and other lawful consequences.

“Let it be clear: this is not a threat but a firm assurance,” the statement read. “The Command has both the capacity and the resolve to protect public officers, safeguard lives and property, and ensure law and order within the Federal Capital Territory.”

The police further announced that residents should expect to see heightened security presence and deployment of operational assets across the Kubwa axis as a proactive measure to deter any breakdown of law and order.

While urging residents to remain calm and continue with their daily activities without fear, the Command encouraged citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity through its emergency hotlines: 0803 200 3913 and 0806 158 1938.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of all residents and warned that no person or group will be allowed to disrupt the peace of the nation’s capital.
