FCT Police Arrest Man For Attempted Bribery In Ongoing Kidnap Investigation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Yahaya Saleh, for allegedly offering a N1.5 million bribe to police officers in a bid to obstruct an ongoing investigation into a kidnap syndicate.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad during a covert operation. Saleh had approached investigators handling the case and attempted to induce them with N1.5 million to secure the unlawful release of one of the suspects already in custody.

The officers, however, rejected the bribe and immediately activated appropriate legal procedures, leading to Saleh’s arrest.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the officers for upholding integrity and professionalism, describing their actions as a reflection of the Command’s commitment to justice and zero tolerance for corruption.

He further assured members of the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals linked to the syndicate.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its resolve to maintain a high standard of accountability and resist any form of interference in the course of justice.

The case remains under investigation.
