Ecobank Nigeria, in partnership with Heave Ventures, has launched *InnovateX*, a youth-focused competition aimed at empowering the next generation of African talents in the creative and STEM sectors. With a prize pool of ₦20 million set aside for the top 10 participants, the initiative is open to individuals aged 16 to 25 and will run from July 1 to August 12, 2025.
At the official launch held in Lagos on Tuesday, Bolaji Lawal, Managing Director and Group Executive of Ecobank Nigeria, described *InnovateX* as a game-changing platform that seeks to unlock Africa’s future by investing in its youth.
“InnovateX is Ecobank’s initiative to shape the future of African enterprise. By equipping young creators and innovators with practical tools and opportunities, we empower them to transform their passion into scalable impact,” Lawal said.
He emphasized that the program offers far more than just cash prizes. Participants will gain access to hybrid bootcamps, expert-led pitching sessions, mentorship, international exposure, and the chance to pitch at a high-profile grand finale. Applications can be submitted via http://www.innovatex.africa before the July 31 deadline.
The competition is divided into two distinct tracks:
* **Creatives Track** — Targeting designers, artists, and content creators, focused on learning the business side of creativity.
* **STEM Track** — For developers, engineers, and tech entrepreneurs looking to master the art of pitching and solution development.
In tandem with the *InnovateX* campaign, Ecobank also highlighted its youth-focused digital product, the **Blaze Account**, tailored for individuals within the same 16–25 age group. The Blaze Account offers features such as:
* A free, uniquely designed debit card
* Three free NIP transfers per month
* Automatic eligibility for *InnovateX* and other youth-targeted initiatives
* Access to EPAC Studio — a digital creative content hub
* Opportunities to become a **Campus Ambassador**
Ecobank’s Campus Ambassador Program is open to students in Nigerian tertiary institutions and includes a monthly stipend of ₦50,000, national recognition, leadership development, and exclusive training opportunities.
According to the bank, *InnovateX* and the Blaze Account together form a holistic youth empowerment model that supports creativity, innovation, financial literacy, and career growth.
“InnovateX is more than just a competition — it’s a launchpad for future leaders, creators, and changemakers,” Lawal concluded.
Aspiring participants are encouraged to apply immediately and take advantage of the program designed to support young Africans with ideas, talent, and ambition to shape their future — their way.
