Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two suspects in separate cases of defilement. The cases were reported and subsequently transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police have secured medical evidence linking the suspects to the crimes and are set to charge them to court on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
A case of defilement transferred from CPS Onitsha on 8th August 2025 which stated how one Emmnuel Sampson living in Odoakpu, Onitsha lured an 8-year-old daughter of his neighbour under the pretence of giving her food and thereafter had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Similarly, on 14th August 2025, a case of defilement was transferred from the 3-3 Division which stated how a 13-year-old girl was defiled by a security man in an Estate.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect, one ThankGod Damian, a security man in the Estate, lured the victim into an uncompleted building where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of sexual and gender-based violence. However, parents and guardians are further advised to remain vigilant and to promptly report all suspected cases to the nearest Police formation for immediate action.
