Anambra Police Recover Two Stolen Vehicles In Obosi, Asaba Through Coordinated Intelligence

The Anambra State Police Command has made significant progress in its fight against car theft and armed robbery with the recovery of two stolen vehicles in separate intelligence-led operations conducted in Obosi, Anambra State, and Asaba, Delta State.

According to information made available by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the first recovery took place on July 12, 2025, when operatives under the Ogidi Area Command, acting on credible intelligence, located a red 2005 Toyota RAV-4 with registration number YAB 122 AZ (Abuja). The vehicle, reportedly snatched at gunpoint by three armed men in Oba on July 11, was found abandoned near Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Odume-Isiowulu, Obosi, along Fresh Air Hotel Road.

In a separate operation on the same day, police officers from Isiowulu Division, in collaboration with their counterparts from the Delta State Police Command, recovered a school bus belonging to SUSU College. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen on July 6, was found abandoned opposite the Magistrate Court in Asaba, Delta State.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the prompt and effective coordination between the two commands, describing the collaboration as a model for inter-state security cooperation. He reiterated the need for sustained synergy among sister security agencies in tackling crimes that cut across state boundaries.

Investigations into the incidents remain ongoing, with efforts underway to track down and apprehend the culprits behind the thefts.
