
In a proactive move to strengthen public safety and community trust, the Anambra State Police Command, on Wednesday, June 12, 2025, held a *Walk for Safety* and launched a campaign against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. The event, which coincided with Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration, was conducted in collaboration with the State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

The awareness walk covered key areas in Nnewi, including the Area Command, Nkwo Triangle, Nwafor Orizu Roundabout, First Bank Junction, and Nnobi Junction. According to the Command, the initiative is part of efforts to promote peace, increase public consciousness about the dangers of violent crimes, and reinforce the importance of community-police collaboration.

Speaking on the significance of the event, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, emphasized that fostering strong ties between the police and local communities remains crucial in combating insecurity. “This initiative helps build trust, encourage community engagement, and contribute to a safer environment in the state,” he stated.

The campaign also spotlighted the need for a collective approach in maintaining law and order while urging residents to support the police in its mission to rid Anambra of violent criminal activities.
