Anambra Police Foil Cult Initiation, Arrest Six Suspects In Njikoka LGA

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have successfully foiled a cult initiation ceremony at Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, arresting six suspects and recovering a cache of weapons and other incriminating items.

The operation, which took place on the morning of June 15, 2025, was the result of intelligence-driven surveillance by police officers. The raid led to the arrest of six young men suspected to be members of a cult group planning an initiation event.

Items recovered from the scene include one Jojef pump action gun, two live cartridges, a golden-coloured Lexus SUV with registration number ATN 202 AE, two cutlasses, two scissors, a cap bearing the insignia of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, charms, suspected hard drugs, and other illegal materials.

The suspects, all male and aged between 20 and 30 years, were identified as Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye. According to police sources, the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to uncover further details about their activities and affiliations.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrests and said investigations are ongoing. “The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he said.

He reiterated the Command’s resolve to continue clamping down on cultism and its associated crimes, noting the dangerous link between cult-related activities and other violent criminal behavior.

The Anambra State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities, assuring the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
