Anambra Police Command, POWA Celebrate Pupils of Police Children’s School To Strengthen Police-Family, Community Relations

The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), hosted a celebration for pupils of the Police Children’s School at the Police Headquarters in Awka on Wednesday. The event was organized to support police families and enhance the relationship between the police and the community in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, urged the pupils to steer clear of bad influences and conduct themselves in ways that uphold the values of the Police Children’s School and Nigeria at large.

Also addressing the children, the State Chairperson of POWA, Mrs. Chinwe Umerie, encouraged them to show good behavior and support their parents. She expressed appreciation to the Command and reiterated the Association’s commitment to increasing community-focused initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between the police and the public.

The event featured a variety of activities including a ceremonial march past and salute to the Commissioner of Police and the POWA Chairperson, as well as a cultural dance display by the pupils and other performances.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and Administration, members of POWA, school principals, parents of the pupils, and other senior police officers.

This collaborative effort by the Anambra Police Command and POWA highlights the role of family engagement and youth development in community policing, while emphasizing the importance of fostering trust and goodwill between law enforcement and the citizens they serve.
